Suede Thompson Looks To Fill The PP3 Cup With Suederade

Suede Thompson is on a roll lately. After scoring a victory over DJ Hyde, Hobo and Astro Viajero at our December 4th TV taping to qualify, Thompson may have momentum on his side heading into the tournament. ‘Your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler’ followed the United Wrestling Network loop up from Championship Wrestling from Arizona, where he is a fan favorite as well.

Light on his feet in the ring and on the dancefloor, Thompson’s quickness and smoothness could make him an early favorite in the tournament. If he were to win, one can only imagine how quickly and deftly he could dance to the ring to catch a champion napping.

Be there for the 5th Annual Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup on Sunday January 15th at the Oceanview Pavilion in Pt. Hueneme! More details on this FREE event at https://www.hollywoodwrestling.com/event/11517

A Well-Urn’ed Legacy: The Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup Turns 5

December marks the beginning of “PP3 Cup Season” in Hollywood and it is always an incredibly bittersweet occasion. As the tournament turns five, it serves as a sobering reminder the CWFH’s beloved friend, Percy Pringle III has been gone for five years. However, it’s always sweet because it marks the beginning of the Hollywood calendar.

What makes the Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup so important? What makes it so unique? To understand that you have to understand…

mg_5171bThe Man

Do you know Percy Pringle III? Chances are the answer to that question is a very loud “Ohhhhhh Yessssss!”, even if you don’t know him by that name. He was a legendary manager – a flamboyant, wealthy and over-privileged southerner who always got what he wanted. He was portrayed by Mr. William Moody – who also went on to portray another legendary manager – Paul Bearer. At Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Percy served as a manager, a commentator, a mentor and a friend.

14566276_10104349265204470_3246194885844131670_oThe Urn

For the delight of his fans, Percy carried his legendary ‘urn’ from his Paul Bearer days with him to all appearances. No one knew that Percy’s last trip to Hollywood would be his last and, as fate would have it, he left his urn behind – resolving to just pick it up ‘next time.’ Sadly, there was no next time. But the iconic urn lives on. With the blessing of his family, Percy’s urn was mounted to a trophy stand and the Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup was born.

The Tournament

At the end of the calendar year, the entire roster competes in qualifying matches, leaving eight competitors for the tournament. A bracket is then formed and a single-elimination winner-take-all set of matches take place at the beginning of the new year. The tourney always seems to ‘set the ball rolling’ each year in Hollywood. The faces that compete become the faces to watch. New feuds erupt as each wrestler vies for their shot at the most unique prize in all of professional wrestling.

The Privilege

The winner of the cup is afforded ‘Percy’s Privilege’. The man who had it all always got what he wanted…and the holder of his cup gets to enjoy that privilege as well. Whomever holds the PP3 Cup can use it to challenge for ANY of the championships defended at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood at ANY time. Once the cup is awarded, every Champion in CWFH must constantly be looking over their shoulder.

Just a few short weeks ago, a decimated Friendship Express sat near-lifeless in the ring after retaining their United Tag Team Championships in a brutal battle with the Classic Connection. The world sat in shock as the badly wounded duo were all but powerless to stop “Big Nasty” Eric Watts, who marched to the ring with the PP3 Cup and used Percy’s Privilege to single-handedly win BOTH tag team championships…for himself! Since then, the tag team division has been in utter turmoil – a testament to the power of the Cup.

We can only begin to wonder what shocking moment awaits Hollywood when the PP3 Cup (and Percy’s Privilege) fall into new hands in 2017.

THREE Huge Main Events This Sunday In Pt Hueneme!

Three Episodes means Three Huge Main Events This Sunday!

FREE this Sunday at 3pm at the Oceanview Pavilion (click here for info)

MAIN EVENT #1 – Big Duke vs DJ Hyde in a STRAP MATCH

duke-dj-11-13

DJ Hyde has been one step ahead of Big Duke for months. Every time Duke turns his back, DJ strikes. Every time Duke is about to get his hands on DJ, DJ escapes. And so it has gone. At one point DJ hurt Duke so badly that he put Duke in the hospital, leading to DJ being fined and suspended. So it comes as no surprise that Duke was thrilled to be granted a Strap Match against his rival.

With Duke literally bound to him, DJ won’t be able to get away. But, it can’t be ignored that Duke is also volunteering to be bound to DJ Hyde – the Lariat God. Was this all just a part of DJ’s plan? Both men seem to think they have the other right where he wants them. We’ll see who is right this Sunday!

MAIN EVENT #2 – Jarek 1:20 vs. Yuma in a NON-SANCTIONED MATCH

yuma-jarek-11-13

It’s been a rough year for Yuma. After working his way back from injury to reclaim the throne as leader of Vermin, he quickly saw the group at Red Carpet Rumble. On his own, he quickly became a target.

In his first post-Vermin moment, he attempted to address the crowd at the Oceanview Pavilion when an unsettling video of Yuma playing with his newborn son suddenly found its way onto the video monitors. For weeks Yuma’s family was stalked and voyeuristically documented until Yuma finally was able to capture the culprit in the act and unmasked his tormentor as Jarek 1:20.

Jarek employed an army of clowns to torment Yuma, kidnapping him and hanging him from the ceiling of the Pavilion for hours. Despite the requests of his doctors and family, Yuma recovered and returned to strike Jarek at his own birthday party. With the emotional and physical stakes running so high, the Marquez family cannot (in good conscience) sanction a match between the two; however, both have agreed to waive their rights and settle their differences in the ring.

MAIN EVENT #3– Bad Dude Tito vs. “Pretty” Peter Avalon for the Hollywood Heritage Championship

ppa-tito-11-13

Bad Dude Tito has been crying “conspiracy” toward the Marquez family and their “favorite child” – Avalon – for quite a while. His claims gained some odd traction at Milestone. In their Championship match, which Tito earned by winning the Red Carpet Rumble, Nikolas Marquez made a fast/awkward (and seemingly incomplete) three-count in the place of a downed official.

The confusing moment sent Peter home with his belt, sent Tito home furious and sent a nervous Marquez home quickly. The conspiracy theory seemed proven right; however, until Avalon stepped through the curtain to inform Tito that he didn’t like the end of their first match anymore than he did and that he would be willing to offer his wronged challenger a rematch. Tito accepted and has done something unprecedented since then – he’s stayed quite.

A focused/angry Bad Dude could be Bad News for Avalon. But, CWFH has been here before – writing Avalon’s eulogy before a championship match. Yet, Avalon just officially climbed to the top of the record books as the longest-reigning champion in Hollywood history. Hard to imagine there could come a day where it wasn’t PPA All Day.

BREAKING NEWS: DDT Pro star, Shigehiro Irie to challenge “American Kaiju” Devin Sparks this Sunday!

Shigehiro Irie’s “American Excursion” Comes to Hollywood!
DDT Pro star will challenge “The American Kaiju” Devin Sparks!

The United Wrestling Network is pleased to announce that Japanese star wrestler Shigehiro Irie will be making his debut for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood this coming Sunday at the Oceanview Pavilion!Known by his tongue-in-cheek nickname, “The Wrestling Teddy Bear”, Irie had wrestled for Japan’s vaunted DDT Pro-Wrestling promotion, where he experienced a great deal of success.

As a member of Team Drift, he became the promotion’s inaugural winner of their trailblazing King Of DDT 6-Man Tag Team Championship belts. He and Team Drift would go on to capture that title a total of 6 times before vacating the belts and disbanding earlier this summer. He has also held the promotion’s traditional Tag Team Championship twice, their Openweight Championship once and has had two reigns with the much-publicized Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship.

He is a strong-style heavyweight and is best known for his tag team wrestling accolades. In addition to the championships he accumulated at DDT Pro, he also has held All Japan Pro Wrestling’s distinguished All Asia Tag Team Championship as well as the Tag Team Championship in Big Japan Wrestling.

After coming up just short with a semi-final elimination in the vaunted King of DDT Tournament this year, a disappointed Irie announced that he needed to grow stronger as a wrestler and as a human. He declared that he could only do so by training and competing outside of Japan – and thus began his “American Excursion”.

Once he reached America, he began to hear of the so-called “American Kaiju” Devin Sparks’ boastful and oft-repeated claims that Sparks is one of the biggest wrestlers in Japan (despite seldom being seen outside of Southern California). Irie’s curiosity about the veracity of Sparks’ claims caused him to reach out to Hollywood matchmaker Nikko Marquez, who gladly extended the invitation Irie’s way. The two will compete this Sunday.

The action will be filmed for CWFH’s weekly, internationally-syndicated television program Sunday, September 25 at 3pm at the Oceanview Pavillion (575 Surfside Drive – Port Hueneme, CA). Admission is free!

MILESTONE: Hollywood Heritage Championship: Tito vs. Avalon – What you need to know

Milestone-FBeventheader

GETTING READY FOR MILESTONE:
Hollywood Heritage Championship Match

Bad Dude Tito vs. “Pretty” Peter Avalon (c)

BACKGROUND

  • Milestone marks the one-year anniversary of “Pretty” Peter Avalon’s capturing the Hollywood Heritage Championship after earning the shot at the 2015 Red Carpet Rumble.
  • Bad Dude Tito won the 2016 Red Carpet Rumble.
  • Tito has suggested that Avalon is the hand-picked champion of the Marquez Family – with whom Tito has virtually never not been at war.
  • Tito’s anger will be on full display at Milestone.
"Bad Dude" Tito won the Rumble - not even the Marquez Family can deny him his title shot now.
“Bad Dude” Tito won the Rumble – not even the Marquez Family can deny him his title shot now.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

  • Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. Hand-picked or not, Avalon has been a fantastic standard bearer for the Marquez family business. If that belt leaves with Tito, what becomes of CWFH?
Milestone will be the 365th Day of PPA All Day - will it be the last?
Milestone will be the 365th Day of PPA All Day – will it be the last?

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

  • Marti-knees – Avalon’s most devastating maneuver comes from behind – you can’t see it coming. It has been his best advantage in his career and one he may need to overcome Tito’s size.
  • Vermin? – Are they truly dead? Is Tito really on his own? We never can really know for sure. Such is the identity (or maybe legacy) of the legendary group.

MILESTONE: Bateman’s ‘Step Right Up’ Challenge for the United Television Championship – What you need to know

Milestone-FBeventheader

GETTING READY FOR MILESTONE:
United Television Championship Match – Step Right Up Challenge

______________ vs. Bateman (c)

BACKGROUND

  • Bateman promised he’d take James Morgan’s United Television Championship – he did.
  • Bateman promised he’d make “The Old” James Morgan show up – he did.
  • Bateman promised he’d take everything from James Morgan….he did. He retired him at Red Carpet Rumble. A cornerstone of the locker room – gone in an instant.
  • The next thing Bateman has promised is a successful title defense at Milestone from anyone willing to “Step Right Up”.
Bateman has taken Morgan's manager, his title and now has come for his career.
Bateman has proven to be a man of his word…and that should be the scariest thing of all.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

  • If Bateman isn’t stopped soon, how will he be stopped ever? Who will be next? Where will it end?
Will Jarek 1:20 be at Bateman's side, or will he be hiding from Yuma?
Will Jarek 1:20 be at Bateman’s side, or will he be hiding from Yuma?

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

  • Jarek 1:20 – Normally to call a man “another man’s puppet” is an unflattering label. Jarek revels in being Bateman’s puppet and will almost certainly be at ringside. Though he recently was revealed to be Yuma’s stalker, so he may not want to join his master in a public setting with Yuma on the warpath.
  • The Other Shoe – With Bateman, it is always seconds away from dropping. But only he ever seems to know where, when and how.

MILESTONE: United Tag Team Championship: Classic Connection vs. The Friendship Express – What you need to know

GETTING READY FOR MILESTONE:
United Tag Team Championship Match

The Classic Connection vs. The Friendship Express (c)
(Levi Shaprio & Buddy Royal  vs. Jervis Cottonbelly & The Hobo)

BACKGROUND

  • For months, Jervis and Hobo have had a rough time with The Classic Connection. Buddy Royal and Levi Shapiro have jumped the Friendship Express every chance they have had. When the champions were at ringside to inquire upon the health of an injured fellow wrestler, the duo savagely struck there as well.
  • At Red Carpet Rumble, the odds were stacked against the champions in a Fatal Four Way, but they managed to pin The PAC-3 to retain and escape with their titles.
  • The Classic Connection contended that, since they were not pinned themselves, they still haven’t received their fair shot at the belts. That shot comes at Milestone.
Hobo (R) finally got Jervis Cottonbelly (L) to conquer his fear of the top rope. Can The Friendship Express be stopped now?
Hobo (R) finally got Jervis Cottonbelly (L) to conquer his fear of the top rope. Can The Friendship Express be stopped now?

WHAT’S AT STAKE

  • Guts, Gold and Glory – The Classic Connection has terrorized the champions for weeks. The Friendship Express held on to their titles without pinning Classic Connection. Something’s gotta give.
The Classic Connection have relentlessly assaulted the champions at every opportunity. They finally get a true title shot at Milestone.
The Classic Connection have relentlessly assaulted the champions at every opportunity. They finally get a true title shot at Milestone.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

  • Cruelty – The Classic Connection have turned over a new, vicious and (appropriately) old-fashioned leaf in their torment of the champions. Their contempt for Hobo and Jervis could be their edge, but could it also distract them?
  • Flying Bunny Rabbits?? – Jervis has long been known for his fear of the top rope – a fear he conquered to retain the belts at Red Carpet Rumble. With this added element to their arsenal, have The Friendship Express put the belts out of reach for the locker room?

MILESTONE: DJ Hyde vs. Big Duke – What you need to know

Milestone-FBeventheader

GETTING READY FOR MILESTONE:
The Lariat War

“The Lariat God” DJ Hyde vs. Big Duke

BACKGROUND

  • Big Duke had been on quite the roll – he had vanquished Eli Drake after an epic months-long feud. Drake hasn’t been since.
  • DJ Hyde, a mainstay of the ultra-violent Combat Zone wrestling in PA made his debut and began making short work of his opponents, going on a roll of his own.
  • Hyde, the self-proclaimed “Lariat God” declared Duke a “False God” given that Duke’s “Killshot” lariat resembled his own.
  • Duke eliminated DJ from the Red Carpet Rumble.
  • DJ eliminated Duke from CWFH altogether, administering a savage beating that left DJ suspended and Duke hospitalized.
DJ Hyde is back from suspension - and he's even angrier.
DJ Hyde is back from suspension – and he’s even angrier.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

  • Pure hatred. – A timeless grudge match between two guys who were born to hate each other, born to fight each other, born to destroy each other. In a million different universes on a million different timelines, DJ Hyde and Big Duke are fighting to their last breath in every single one of them.
Duke has stepped his game up to meet his competition in the past - can he do it again?
Duke has stepped his game up to meet his competition in the past – can he do it again?

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

  • Violence – DJ’s reputation followed him west. Once a guy learns to survive a death match, that guy learns how to make every match a death match. Duke has stepped up his aggression match DJ’s, but will it be enough?
  • The Referee – Neither man has an ally. Neither man has a friend. Neither man has a title. Neither man has anything to lose. It is impossible to conceive of a scenario where the official will have an easy time containing this contest to the regulations of standard competition.

MILESTONE: CWFH Originals vs. New Blood in an 8-man Tag – What you need to know

Milestone-FBeventheader

GETTING READY FOR MILESTONE:
CWFH Originals vs. CWFH New Blood – 8-man Tag Team Match

Ricky Mandel, Ryan Taylor, Sasha Darevko and Eric Watts vs.
Suede Thompson, Julius Coleman, JR Kratos and Espiritu

On CWFH’s birthday, some of it’s oldest stalwarts and youngest stars will battle for the Hollywood spotlight.

BACKGROUND

  • The Originals are a once-in-a-lifetime collection of CWFH mainstays. Between them there are Hollywood Heritage Champions, Tag Team champions, Television championships, Percy Pringle III Cup Winners and more.
  • The New Blood, while low on accolades, are strong in performance, victories and potential – they represent the hungriest of the new talent infusion led by Nikko Marquez.
Luchador Espiritu joins the New Blood team at Milestone with something to prove.
Luchador Espiritu joins the New Blood team at Milestone with something to prove.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

  • One side has been on top since the beginning. For the other side, this IS the beginning. Who will be on top at the end?
Ryan Taylor has won everything there is to win at CWFH - he has to be a favorite to win for the Originals.
Ryan Taylor has won everything there is to win at CWFH – he has to be a favorite to win for the Originals.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

  • Dirty Tricks – The Originals boast some of the dirtiest players in CWFH history – from Darevko’s Russian Chain, Watts’ sinister manager Ty Matthews, Mandel’s obsession with victory and all the tricks Taylor picked up in Vermin over the years – the match hardly feels like a fair fight and it hasn’t even started yet.
  • “The Newcomers Advantage” – The advantage of being new is that you are quite hard to prepare for. Each member of the New Blood team has impressed in singles competition lately – can they make a statement in a match that is bound to elevate their status should they prevail?
